Baby It's cold outside!

Brrrr. It's getting cold. I saw a homeless boy curled up under the freeway overpass the other day. It was the sloped type of wall and I don't know how he was balancing himself there and sleeping! He wore a tshirt and ragged jeans. I was cold inside of the car. There are over 7000 teens like him on our streets and temps are goint to hit 30's and 40's in the next few days. PLEASE consider donating your beanies, scarves, mittens, coats, or join our blanket making events. 2 yards of fleece is all you need, and a little heart.

BLANKETS and Teen gifts

OK, so The Shade Tree asked us to help them get teen gifts for the holidays. Just like I already knew, lots of doantions for the little kids but nobody thinks of teens when doing the toys for tots Christmas drive. This is why I stated Teens Helping Teens, they fall through the cracks so often. Help us out. Lotion sets, make up kits, hoodies, music, Anything you would love, so would these at risk teens. I bet even lots of stuff you don't want! You know those gifts you put away and want to regift? Where heres your chance,  message me, Ill take all your regifting stock, or join me, and we will regift together!

Also, 2 yards of fleece, cut out 3 inch square from each corner, fringe the rest all the way around, about every 2 inches. Tie the fringe in knots, and give me a call! We want every teen in our state that gets taken by CPS workers, or comes into emergency shelters, or that we see huddled in the freeway overpass to get one! We need a lot, but they are easy, inexpensive and fun to make, so get making em!

Winter wear

Tatiana and Siena helped me sort and they delivered  a ton of stuff for our homeless teens Monday night. So great to get help and to have these young girls, only 13, want to help their peers. I am sad that I don't have more involved in my own age group. Everyone gets excited to help and then too busy to do it. We all need to remember how much our peers need us just to survive and to feel that someone actually cares about them. Come on friends. make some time and make blankets with me! We need 100's of them.

Doctor Thalgott drive

So greatufl to Dr. Thalgott and his team. They have chosen Teens Helping Teens for their holiday drive and will be collecting foods and holiday gifts for teens, for our TEEN ANGEL TREE! So many great people in our state that want to help our most at risk kids. Its a good day!

High Salaries of charity execs!!!!

I was so upset when I read a report on BIG Charities! The salary these execs are bringing in is sickening! I use my allowance and whatever I can get donated by begging, pleading, heavy social media marketing etc., to feed, cloth and support homeless teens and my sister Works her butt off to fill urgent needs and to give support to at risk youth. Together we make $0! We spend $200-$300 of our own money a month. This is what CHARITY means. Not big business. This is also why I get mad when I see donation drop off structures in parking lots that just says "clothing recycle drop off!" No name of who it supports or names listed but the items go to stores where they are sold!  Don't give your donations to places that will sell them, or where you DO NOT KNOW who they will help. Get your stuff right onto the backs of teens and youth directly. They need us to help them fit in and to just survive.

PROUD of my sis, the UNKNOWN TEEN Philanthropist!

So proud of my sis. Way to go Siena. 13 and co-founded Teens Helping Teens with me and cares so much. She works hard to help our teens and will NEVER take any credit! I have to remind her, the reason we go along with news stories and press is not for credit or praise, it is to spread the word and get more help. This is "our movement" Getting all teens to help teens in need. She hates publicity and I joke with her that she can be on the news with a paper bag on her head. She will be known as the UNKNOWN TEEN PHILANTHROPIST! haha. Love you sis. Great job doing your first ALONE drop at Rancho High School on the first day of school. Bringing loads of backpacks, supplies, food, hygeine kits and more. She didnt want to wait for me to be able to help her. She felt so sad thinking of the kids starting the first day of school without our donations there to greet them. SO..... She went without me on the very first day of school. Skipped lunch, fun with friends at her own school, etc. YOU ARE A ROLE MODEL, if you want the credit or not, I am giving it to you and hope many will follow your lead. xoxo

Missouri homeless Teens

Tonight I was trying so hard to find resources for homeless teens in Kansas City, MO.. I could not find a single shelter or drop in loaction for urgent needs. I found stories about the 2000 teens sleeping on the streets each night there, I found people raising money for foundations, but I didn't find a PLACE, to connect our Missouri area teens that want to volunteer or donate, with. I will keep digging. Sad..

I was so impressed that Columbia, Mo, a small college town, had great resources for thier homelss youth, yet a huge city like Kansas City, not a one! Way to go Columbia!

Sadly it is never enough!

Today we distributed tons of stylish hand me downs at
NPHY, and LOVED filling a huge bin with apples off of the tree right in our own backyard! We can never eat all of those apples and so many fall to the ground and go to waste every year. NOT THIS YEAR! Refreshing goodness for hungry youth today! We distributed about 100 lip balms, lots of toothbrushes and sun screen and some other foods, but it is NEVER ENOUGH!  It amazes me how much we are able to collect and how busy we stay sorting, cleaning and distributing! But everytime I empty out the trunk, not only does the trunk get empty but my heart feels empty again! There are so many in need, and so little I can really do. We need more teens to join our movement. Please help me spread the word and get our website out there. So much to do and school is almost here too. I wish we could put shoes on every pair of feet. Put a backpack on every homeless and poor teenager trying to go to school! I cannot do it alone.  www.teenshelpingteens.co please, add us to your social media sites and JOIN THE MOVEMENT!

Inspiration and need every single day!

I am so blessed, but every single day, even when I least expect it, I meet someone amazing. Someone so strong and brave. Someone still smiling, though they live a life that most of us could never imagine. I just came back from a crhristian camp. A camp I thought would have alot of teens that were just about like me, but even there I heard inspiring stories of survival, met amazing kids who have gone thru and are going through hell. Thier is so much need all around us.  PLEASE HELP ME PRAY FOR These kids. .

The SHade Tree

We dropped of a bunch of urgently needed items today to The Shade Tree Shelter! Lots of stuff Siena collected for the younger homeless kids. Socks, underwear, even diapers. Sun screen and bath stuff. What a sad but great place that is. It is hard to explain how you can feel sad and inspired at the same time, but you can. An overheated pregnant girl sitting in the lobby, rubbing her tummy  and cooling off. She was beautiful. She told me that the baby was kicking alot and she smiled! But she was so tired and her eyes so sad. Then some cops came in to talk to her. She is probably abused, I think. I am so inpsired that this place is here to take her in. To take in alot of moms and thier kids, babies to teens. But how sad also that they have to go here! Mixed emotions for sure. We will just keep helping and praying. It is all we can do.
